We are currently living through a compounding collapse of the systems that keep us alive. The intersecting fractures of food supply, skyrocketing fuel and synthetic fertilizer costs, a broken housing market, structural unemployment, and a pervasive spiritual disconnection from the earth. We realize and wholeheartedly believe that these problems are too massive for us to alone. So my husband, Brian (a scientist) and I (a product designer) believe the antidote to a broken global supply chain is a highly localized, deeply intentional loop.

When I look at the challenges ahead, I often think back to my grandmother. She belonged to a generation that understood food systems natively—systems that inherently improved the soil rather than depleting it. They didn't see agriculture as an extractive industry; they saw it as a relationship. Today, modern industrial agriculture relies on imported, petroleum-based inputs to force life out of dead dirt. Then the fuel stops moving, the fertilizer stops arriving, and the food grid fractures.

Our response to this vulnerability is launching Mama Kuku’s Homestead and the Helical Healing Habitat. In Farmersville, Texas, we are building a model for localized food sovereignty centered around a highly resilient, completely overlooked biological asset: the Cornu aspersa snail.

Heliciculture (escargot farming) is virtually nonexistent at scale in the United States, meaning we import the vast majority of our escargot. Now, more than ever, is the time to grow it here. As a regenerative protein source, the snail is an elegant answer to the triad of food, fuel, and fertilizer shortages:

  • Food (Protein): Snails are an incredibly dense, clean source of protein with a microscopic environmental footprint compared to traditional livestock.

  • Fuel & Energy: Operating through our EscarGrow system. The biological loop requires minimal energy to sustain high yields.

  • Fertilizer: This is where the value capture gap holds promise. The snails turn food scraps and organic waste into snail frass (waste) and highly active leachate. It is a potent, microbially rich biological asset that accelerates soil restoration, bypassing the need for expensive, toxic chemical fertilizers entirely.

As busy parents, we know the metacrisis cannot be solved by a single family working in isolation. It requires a social innovation that facilitates the reaching Goldilocks Zone.

We are inviting co-founders, partners, and apprentices to help co-steward a rotational regenerative system on 20 acres of agricultural land. Partners keep 100% of their revenue.

By offering a shared, highly optimized infrastructure, we remove the massive capital barriers to entry that keep people locked out of agriculture and independent enterprise. One partner may manage the high-value skincare extraction from the snail mucin; another may focus on the gourmet escargot market; a third may steward the vermicomposting and frass-to-fertilizer pipeline.

By decentralizing the wealth but centralizing the ecosystem, we create a fractal model of economic resilience. It directly addresses structural unemployment and financial anxiety by allowing individuals to capture the full value of their labor.

We also weave in spaces for somatic wellness, oil painting, and yoga right alongside our biological nodes. Reclaiming our spiritual connection to the land and to our own bodies is an essential piece of our technology.
